Askew Screenprints on 1xRUN

We met Askew when he was in town for a live graffiti show at Fort Street Gallery last winter. The New Zealand artist works primarily with spray paint, but his aesthetic translates perfectly over to screenprinting. These prints for 1xRUN are based on a visual he calls “Diamondism”. He says, “Diamondism is the term I coined when referring to my recent stream of work. It was an offshoot of the ‘Netch’ pieces painted together with Berst. Initially Diamondism came from my observations of crystal formations photographed with a macro lens. In nature colours and form are arranged in ways that defy human logic. All the rules are broken – yet everything is defined perfectly.”

These are set to drop right about…now (1/24 at noon EST). Anthracite is an edition of 35 and is $45. Gold is an even smaller edition of 12 and goes for $75. These were printed up on French Muscletone, so they’re really nice and heavy 16×24″ prints. Behind the cut, there’s a video they filmed at Progress of Design while these were bring printed. I want a giant jar of gold ink!
