Concert Posters from Capital A

Madhouse is a graphic design company in Toledo, OH. Besides the normal design work, they also curate a gallery, a house a traveling journal project called Blank, and maintain a separate concert poster effort. They somehow do all of this with only five designers under their roof.

These Arms Are Snakes

Capital A is their concert poster arm, which produces handscreened prints in small editions for (mostly) local shows. They must have great taste in music as well, because their shop is full of acts like Tapes n Tapes, Bishop Allen, and Jens Lekman. Although most of their posters are on regular high quality paper like Cougar and French, they aren’t afraid to experiment with other textures like kraft, canvas paper, and leatheresque Plike.

Bon Iver

I have a feeling that no monitor can really do these justice. The above poster uses metallic gold ink and has a subtle paisley pattern under the black that probably looks amazing. Only 45 were printed and they’re still available for purchase.
