Detroit Urban Craft Fair Artist Preview
Handmade Detroit has selected a really diverse group of vendors for this year’s Detroit Urban Craft Fair at the Majestic Theater. And judging from their previews on Twitter, even the five HD girls themselves have some brand new products. So if you think you already know what DUCF is like, you might be surprised at what you find there this year.
This event always features really talented artists, and this year is no exception. Here are a few designers, painters, illustrators and printmakers that will be there on Saturday. They’re all really nice, so say hi to them if you see them. 10am – 7pm makes for a long day!
Angela Duncan, hand-drawn typographer extraordinaire, illustrated one of the event’s official posters. Clockwise from top left: rabbits shirt, gun shirt, official poster, Fleet Foxes print.
An Einfach Deck would make a great wall hanging. Just use a couple of wall mounted plate stands to display it. From left: XXX, Rain Sucks, Tape Deck, and Kwame: Pimp Mayor of D-Town.
Katie Muth is printmaker from Toronto. I love her style of illustration. Clockwise from top left: Let’s Stay Under the Covers print, Toboganning linocut, 2010 calendar.
Hand silkscreened canvases from All Things Grow look cute grouped together. Spend $15 and get a free woodcut print with this coupon. From top: assorted group, Agate, Branches.
Sloe Gin Fizz has paper goods that showcase original illustrations and photography. Clockwise from top left: Awkward Faces notepad, Holiday Motel card, Holiday gift tag, Wishing You No Lost Mittens card.
And finally, Kill Taupe‘s character driven artwork is adorable as always. From left: Geeks Are Sexy magnet and Satisfied original painting.
In addition to these individual artists, 323 East and Wholly Craft (from Columbus) will be selling a variety of things on consignment. Keep checking in at the DUCF website all week for sneak peeks of every vendor.
