Upcoming Holiday Craft Shows

Winter is coming.

This upcoming weekend brings the first of three Holiday craft shows that we are doing. We will be, for the third time, vending at Crafty Supermarket in Cincinnati on Saturday, November 19th. This is the only out of state show we’re doing and it’s one of our favorites we do all year.

On December 3rd and 4th we will be participating in our second Detroit Urban Craft Fair, which is this year being held at the Masonic Temple.

One week later, on December 10th and 11th we will be part of DIYpsi, held at the Corner Brewery. We are super excited to be in this show. This will be the first time we’ve vended at DIYpsi, and the Ypsilanti / Ann Arbor area in general.

UPDATE: We’ll also be a vendor at the 6th year anniversary Holiday Baar Bazaar! This is always a really fun late night show with live music. Baar Bazaar is Saturday, December 17th from 8pm to 2am at The Majestic Theater.

This is our favorite time of year. Despite all of the sleepless nights and stress associated with the planning for Holiday shows, we love hanging out with all of the other artists that we’ve met over the last year and a half we’ve been doing craft shows. We’ve been hard at work on newly designed holiday cards, mixtape kits, book marks, and will have over 20 different screen printed posters available.

There are a ton of great craft shows in Michigan this time of year, and Amanda Schott, of Dang Argyle posted a show guide on her site.

We hope to see you at the shows!

Kady Jesko

Kady Jesko is a graphic designer from Detroit who shares our love of printmaking and typography. She’s not even out of school yet, and she already has a couple of typefaces under her belt. There’s lots of good stuff to be found throughout her portfolio.

Gigposter Design for the Juliets Upcoming Album Release Show

We were super excited when we were asked to produce a poster for The Juliets upcoming show to celebrate the release of their new album, Perfect Season. The poster is a three color screenprint on French Speckletone paper.

Reclaimed Recap

This recap for the show we curated, Reclaimed, at River’s Edge Gallery is LONG overdue. We were so flattered that so many great artists agreed to be part of the show. Again, the theme revolved around the incorporation of found objects into each peace, which resulted in a varied, yet cohesive work amonst the artists. The work was excellent. Thank you so much to the artists for being part of our show, and all the people that came to the opening.

Day of the Dead Recap

Happy Halloween! Where did the month of October go? We’ve admittedly fallen a bit behind on blogging, and the only thing to do is to catch up, one post at a time. Please keep your submissions coming (email them to heyyouguys [at] perfectlaughter [dot] com).  If you’ve submitted something and haven’t heard back, we apologize. Hang tight, we’re getting there!

This weekend is the last chance to see Day of the Dead at Starkweather Arts Center. The gallery is open Thursday through Saturday.  The show that Heather Hansma curated has a lot of fantastic work in it, and we were happy to be a part of it. The opening featured music by Hand in the Ocean, and performance art by Jayme Ludwig. All of the opening’s hijinks can be seen in this Day of the Dead photo album that Heather put together on Flickr.

As for the artwork, it’s showcased beautifully in this highlight reel that was shot by local cable channel WBRW. Great job, Heather, on a very thoughtfully curated and tirelessly promoted show that all of the artists involved are no doubt very proud of.
