Portland Ephemera
For many years, I’ve kept shoeboxes of postcards, flyers, stickers, and similar items in shoeboxes. I’ve always referred to them as “The Box of Cool Stuff”, even long after it was no longer contained in only one box. During our time in Portland, I picked up lots of things for The Box of Cool Stuff. I guess since I’m a grown up, I should start calling it ephemera.
Some maps from the Ace Hotel‘s front desk, where we stayed
In our room, we found a city guide written by Sonic Youth for each of the Ace’s locations
Much, much more behind the cut!
Punch cards from Stumptown, which was a coffee shop inside our hotel.
A punch in each bag above and each bean below = 1 purchase.
Tasting guides: 1 color ink on the inside, 2 on the cover with the additional gold swirls
The fateful postcard that led to our day at Em Space
Business cards we got at Em Space. One is shaped like a metal piece of type!
Postcard for Portland Artcrank, which is going on now (Flickr)
I know Dennis already mentioned Happy Sparrow, but I just have to reiterate how cute and yummy it is.
kolache = a small bun with a sweet or savory filling. We had a nutella one and a vegan seitan one. So good!
I didn’t actually see any clothes by Dear Creatures in Portland, but I did see some in SF.

That place looks awesome! We didn’t make it to Alberta St. I guess we have a reason to go back now (not that we need one).
