Ryan G. Hill

I flipped back a few weeks in my planner and saw a cryptic name: “Ryan G. Hill”. It was written during the third week of July, and I deduced that it must be the name of an artist I had seen while wandering around Wyandotte on Third Friday. I remember that Rivers Edge had free beer that night in addition to their standard box-o-wine, and so it makes sense that I forgot scribbling his name down.

Ryan is an illustrator from Grand Rapids. His imagery can tell a powerful story with one glance, and he uses a muted, washed out color palette. I could easily see these on the cover of the New Yorker. Ryan, we are sending you a congratulatory terrorist fist bump.

A few of Ryan’s originals are for sale at Rivers Edge Gallery. All of the above and more are available for purchase as prints. You can find them in the “Prints for Sale” album on his MySpace page, right next to the Beardoff 2007 album.
