Recap: Four Score at 323East
Right now, 323East is featuring several relatively unknown street artists in a group show called Four Score. Malt, Denial, Peter D’Angelo and fellow blogger Mike Han will have their art on the walls until March 9th. For Dennis and I, the opening was supposed to be the first stop on our Valentines Day date, but we were having so much fun that we missed our dinner reservations completely. Our full photo gallery is after the jump.
Detroit Urban Craft Fair Artist Preview: Part 1
It’s almost here! The 5th annual Detroit Urban Craft Fair is this weekend. If you’re planning on coming out for it (and we hope you are!) you’ll want to get the details on parking from Handmade Detroit. While you’re in the city, Always the Forest has a great post on where to eat and what else to do. And don’t forget to stop by Noel Night on Saturday night, which features our esteemed contributor, Heather Hansma. Finally, if you can’t wait for Saturday to get here, warm up on Friday night at 323 East. It’s the opening of Snowflakes and Candy Canes, a show that’s priced for nifty gifties, and includes one Mr. Dennis Jacobs.
As we did last year, we put together a preview of vendors who focus on art and illustration. Behind the cut, you’ll get a sneak peek of who you’ll be seeing at the Detroit Urban Craft Fair.

1xRUN: A Print A Week by 323East
This week, 323East debuted 1xRUN, which will bring you one super limited edition print each Monday. A few weeks ago, we happen to stumble into the gallery while they were working on the site, and from the sneak peek we were given, we knew right away it was going to be awesome.

Matt Eaton’s print “Loaf” (above) kicked things off and also made us look forward to his first ever solo show opening this Saturday. Coming up, they’re going to release prints by Bask, Glenn Barr, Audrey Pongracz, David Chung and Adam Batchelor.

Audrey Pongracz - "3rd House"

Glenn Barr - "Without Pity"
Not only will 1xRUN make great pieces of art more accessible to everyone, but it also lets people outside Detroit enjoy the extremely well curated work that we get to see in person. We suggest that you like 1xRUN on Facebook or follow @1xRUN on Twitter so you can nerd out with us every Monday.
While We’re Away
Posting is going to be a little light around here for the next week or so. We’re going to that place that Michiganders affectionately call “Up North” for the weekend, and then buckling down in preparation for the People’s Arts Festival. In the meantime, may we suggest a few things to keep you busy?
- The Silent Giants have a show going on at 323East. We missed the opening and don’t have pics, but their posters will be up through the weekend.
- You can head to Midtown tonight for the Canfield Street Market. 5-9 outside of City Bird.
- After that, hit up the closing reception for That DAM Box Show. 6-9 pm at the Detroit Artists Market.
- Send us a submission! Suggest an artist for us to blog about by emailing us at heyyouguys at perfectlaughter dot com. Please don’t be shy about suggesting yourself, even if you don’t have a fancy website/portfolio. Send us a couple of images, and you could get a little piece of the internet in the form of a Perfect Laughter blog post.
- We’re in the middle of finishing a couple of new prints. We’ve been posting process pics on Twitter, as well as other daily shenanigans. You can follow us at @perfectlaughtr.
- If you’re not into Twitter, we have a Facebook fan page or a like page or whatever it’s called this week. But we try to only post important stuff on there so we’re not spammin’ up people’s Facebooks.
We’ll try to post a few times next week as we are able, and we hope to see you next weekend at the People’s Arts Festival!

OUR LATEST GIGPOSTER
We got to design and print a poster for Darling Imperial's farewell show at the Berkley Front. They let us do whatever we wanted, so we went with vintage lettering and a weathered, faded feel.
