Reclaimed Preview: Megan Frauenhoffer

Printmaker Megan Frauenhoffer took a unique approach to the theme or our upcoming group show, Reclaimed, at River’s Edge Gallery. Megan used misprints from previous screenprints to make a collage piece for the show.

Reclaimed Preview: Taro Takizawa

Our friend Taro Takizawa is an talented printmaker originally from Japan and currently based out of Mt. Pleasant. I was super excited that he wanted to be part of our Reclaimed Show, and made not one, but two prints for it. The detail on the prints, especially considering that they are wood cuts, is insane.

Day of the Dead at Starkweather Arts Center, Romeo, MI, Oct. 7th, 2011

We are part of a huge group show happening at Starkweather Arts Center in Romeo, MI on October 7th. Curated by the lovely Heather Hansma, the pieces, as the title may suggest, revolves around the theme of Dia de los Muertos.
We wanted the focus of the print to be the traditional Day of the Dead skull, but with a somewhat photorealistic spin. The final print measures 16 x 20″ and is three colors on French Speckletone Madero Beach paper.

Beautiful Monstrosities at 323 East In Royal Oak

Two of our favorite artists, Audrey Pongracz and April Segedi have a show opening this weekend at 323 East Gallery in Royal Oak Michigan. They were each nice enough to answer a few questions for us regarding their work for the show.

Happy Serum opens on June 3 at Starkweather Arts Center

Our friends Kill Taupe, Heather Hansma, and Crystal Mielcarek have a show opening at Starkweather Arts Center in Romeo, Michigan. Entitled “Happy Serum”, the show focuses on happiness,(though perhaps taking a tongue in cheek approach to the subject) something that the artists feel that Metro area seems to be lacking . The show opens on June 3rd and runs through the 25th.
