Brendan Monroe Interview

I have followed work of Brendan Monroe for the last five years, and his evolution as an artist has been remarkable. Brendan was nice enough to take some time to answer a few questions regarding his thoughts on his art prints, process, and upcoming projects.

Transposed Screenprint by Brendan Monroe

Brendan Monroe just released this awesome five color hand pulled screenprint. The print measures 16″ x 22″, which is the largest print Brendan has released in recent memory. And with an edition of 43, these are super limited. Get yours at his online shop.
Minor Borborygmi by Brendan Monroe
Here’s something new and a little different from Brendan Monroe. Brendan is offering a plush sculpture made from refuse material from his original Borborgymi sculpture that was constructed for his solo show last year at Richard Heller Gallery. The sculptures are quite sizeable measuring 20″ x 20″ x 15″. The coolest thing about the sculpture is when sqeezed they play an original sound element from the larger Borborgymi. Images of the original and a sound clip can be found by clicking the borgorygmi link at the top of the page here. The scupltures are limited to 28 pieces and are priced at $150.
Brendan Monroe at Richard Heller Gallery
Christina and I are both home sick today so there won’t be much in the way of blogging. And not being people of science we can only assume that the germs making us sick looks like the microbes in Brendan Monroe‘s paintings.
Many many more photos of Brendan’s latest show at Richard Heller Gallery can be seen here at Arrested Motion.
Brendan Monroe Moving Sale

One of my favorite artists Brendan Monroe is moving with his girlfriend, Evah Fan, to Stockholm while she attends graduate school. In an effort to reduce storage space and to raise funds for the move Brendan is having a sale in his Etsy Store. Many of the items he has for sale have beenlong sold out time, including prints, totes, and plush figures. He also has two sets of his popular vinyl sour figures for sale on eBay. Most of these items I have not seen available anywhere online, eBay or otherwise, in quite some time.

OUR LATEST GIGPOSTER
We got to design and print a poster for Darling Imperial's farewell show at the Berkley Front. They let us do whatever we wanted, so we went with vintage lettering and a weathered, faded feel.
