A Couple of Questions for HAM

Well, this is it. Dylan Haigh and Kristy Martino are the last couple in our interview series. Luckily, they’ve got their hands in enough projects to keep you hopping all over the internets for quite a while. OK Great is where Dylan and Kristy began blogging, and still do. After a while, a couple of the OK Great kids started their own blogs, including Dylan’s Hard Feelings. There, he somehow unearths about 47 amazing, unheard of artists every single day. Then, in a passive aggressive attempt to get Kristy to take pictures again, Dylan bought her a camera and built her a photo blog called Nothing Nice.

In addition to her fashion photography skills learned at FIT, Kristy is a killer writer. And Dylan is like an unstoppable steamroller of creativity. It’s fitting that the two chose a meat cleaver for their logo for HAM, or Haigh and Martino. HAM is a brand new creative shop that allows them to put all of their many talents to great use, together. The amount of work they’ve done while HAM is still in its infancy is astounding.

A Couple of Questions for RageHaus

The last year has seen huge changes for Kimberly and Derek Munn of RageHaus. They made a big move from Virginia to New York to expand their design careers. Derek is attending SVA’s graduate program for Designer as Author and Kimberly is a designer at a stationery company called Mr. Boddington’s Studio. While many of their collaborative projects are momentarily on the back burner, their toy camera photo blog Yellow Polka Dots is going strong as they capture their explorations of New York City.

Shane Cranford

Shane Cranford is a fantastic art director out of North Carolina. His style is kind of like a modernized version of what you’d find on Victorian-era potions and medicine bottles, and he adapts it to work well across a wide variety of projects. Plus, his portfolio lives at workingformorework.com, for which I’m sending him an internet high five. While you’re there, take a look at his wonderfully curated blog of inspirations.

Lexane Rousseau

I had a hard time picking out work from the swanky portfolio of Lexane Rousseau. From her branding and packaging to her fine art pieces, everything in there is wonderful.

Starred #33

Starred by Perfect Laughter

This week’s edition of Starred is all about type. That means it’s going to be long.

Absolutely in love with this font and this emerald color of green.

365 Ampersands posts a different one every day.

From Lettercult’s Alphabattle. Submissions for I are due on June 20, and all will be published.

From Friends of Type: “For those of you (like myself) who overuse the word amazing when describing absolutely everything…I was hoping we could train ourselves to use new adjectives.” Yes, that sounds like me! The process sketches on this one are, uh, awesome? (I overuse that one, too.)

Business cards for Jessica Hische‘s Daily Drop Cap project. Printed by Cranky Pressman.

Finally, Margot over at Pitch Design Union has finally made a 2nd Howdy Do It Mix. The first one was brilliant, and I can’t wait to listen. Not to mention, the tracklist is designed beautifully enough to be cover art by itself.

Named after the Add Star feature in Google Reader, “Starred” is a column about things that catch my eye as I peruse the blogs I subscribe to. If you’d like to subscribe to Perfect Laughter, here’s a link to our RSS Feed.
