Spring Shows!
Hello there, internets! Our blog is going to be a little slow this week as we get set for spring shows. We’re hitting the road again, heading back into the loving arms of Ohio, and sticking our toe into Indiana for the first time, where I’ll be buying one of these.
Craft Revival: April 15-16, Ferndale, MI
Meth + Hot Dogs 2: April 30, Royal Oak, MI
Crafty Supermarket: May 7, Cincinnati, OH
Rust Belt Market: May 21, Ferndale, MI
INDIEana Handicraft Exchange, June 11, Indianapolis, IN
Rust Belt Market, June 18, Ferndale, MI
OTHER AWESMAZING THINGS:
Our dear friends at Mio Dio are opening their very own retail space in Mt. Clemens. Their grand opening on April 16th will be a fun time that we’re sad we’re going to miss. But YOU should go!
We’re featured on Creative Couples! Thanks to Megan for interviewing us. Read it here.

2011: Still Not Trying
If you’ve ever read our About page, you might know that our name, Perfect Laughter, came from a Bukowski poem called Roll The Dice. The whole spirit of the thing is about taking risks and having faith that they’ll pay off. Go all the way. “Don’t Try.” Do it.

We started this blog a little more than two years ago now with some future plans that we thought, at the time, were a bit crazy. In 2009 we spent countless hours learning to screenprint via our wedding invitations – a very stressful choice of guinea pigs, needless to say. That year, we also drove 1,656 miles to buy a printing press that we had no idea how to use. We were doing our best to go all the way.
We kept on blogging and produced our first screenprint, First Snow. Then in January, we relaunched a totally redesigned website with a new brand identity to boot. And that’s when things started to happen. A LOT of things. It’s no wonder that here we are, four days into the new year, and we’re still reflecting upon the events of 2010. It’s a little overwhelming to do as many other bloggers have done over the past few days, and recap our last year.
Relive 2010 with us, and find out what’s in store for 2011…
Craft Revival Recap
Our first show was a huge success and a ton of fun! Not only did we meet a all of the shoppers who stopped by our table, but we got to spend the day with a bunch of super talented people. There were so many amazing things in this show, I have no idea how I made it through the day without spending a ton of money. Here’s a little recap with a few of the vendors whose wares were for sale at Craft Revival. (Please excuse the awful lighting; I realized 8 minutes before the show was over that I hadn’t taken any pictures yet and scrambled around the room clicking frantically.)
Our sweet booth neighbor, Nikki, of R’eal Life Empire. Her cards are hysterical.
My sister bought a super cute dress from Stephanie of Always the Forest.
Scott of Eclectic Press and Courtney of Ampersans. These two are crazy talented graphic designers.
Sarah of Wound Menswear. She’s having an open house next weekend at the Russell Industrial Center: 2-11pm on 4/24 and 1-5 pm on 4/25.
Sara of BroadStreet jewelry. Awesome statement necklaces.
Jill of Barrel of Monkeys. The painting is the perfect backdrop for her colorful buttons.
Amanda and Cree of Jones Press. Seriously, how cute are these two?!
Shawn of Pinky Blaster. We are not worthy.
Me + Dennis!
Between Craft Revival and Future Midwest the day before, it seems like I met about 87,000 people this weekend. I was so terrified that I wouldn’t get everyone’s names right that I almost didn’t write this post. I hope you can forgive me if I messed up! Please comment if I did.
If you stopped by our table, thanks! We put some of the things we had for sale in our online shop, in case you missed out on Saturday. If you’re looking for something that’s not there, email us at heyyouguys [at] perfectlaughter.com. Thanks to Handmade Detroit for letting us be a part of a great show!
Craft Revival!!
If you’ve been following us on Twitter, you probably know that we’ve spent the last month and a half getting ready for Craft Revival! Since it’s going to be our first craft show ever, we had to make a lot of new things. And we still have a lot to do. That’s why posting might be a little light around here over the next couple of weeks.
We’re really excited to show you what we’ve made so far. Over the next 2 weeks, we’re going to be sharing pictures of everything as they get finished on our Facebook page. If you haven’t already, we hope you’ll become a fan and tell us what you think.
Here are all the details. See you there!
This year’s Craft Revival, hosted by Handmade Detroit, will feature 25+ indie artists setting up and selling unique and clever handmade items. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at The Loving Touch in Ferndale. Admission is free and all ages are invited.

ABOUT PERFECT LAUGHTER
Perfect Laughter is Dennis and Christina Jacobs of Detroit, Michigan. In addition to blogging about artists that we love, we design, screenprint and letterpress paper goods. If you're looking for a graphic designer or illustrator, commissions are always welcome! (read more...)
OUR LATEST GIGPOSTER
We got to design and print a poster for Darling Imperial's farewell show at the Berkley Front. They let us do whatever we wanted, so we went with vintage lettering and a weathered, faded feel.
