Interview with Lauren Moyer
I’m very happy that we got the chance to interview Lauren Moyer, who is a painter and illustrator who graduated from CCS. Her latest work is going to be part of a two person show at Starkweather along with Anna Cangialosi. The opening is tomorrow, September 3rd, from 6-8 pm.
Lauren was kind enough to take some time apart from getting ready to tell us about how she fell in love with painting, her travels to Alaska, and what’s next for her. She was also kind enough to include a sneak preview of her newest paintings and screenprints that will be in the show. The interview and lots of pictures are behind the cut.

Crazy 4 Cult 4 Preview
Gallery 1998‘s 4th installation of Crazy 4 Cult will open in a little more than a week, and the lineup is insane. As the opening nears, some of the artists are letting us get a sneak peek of their pieces.
Scott Belcastro (A Clockwork Orange)
Rick Pellegrino (Willy Wonka)
Audrey Pongracz (The Shining)
Audrey Pongracz (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind)
Can’t wait to see more stuff for this show pop up as the week goes on.
UPDATE: We’ll continue to keep this post going as more work surfaces. More behind the cut.
Limited Edition Audrey Pongracz Print
Audrey Pongracz has made a giclee print of “Gooses Geeses” available for sale through 323 East. The original painting was in the third installment of Gallery 1988‘s esteemed Crazy 4 Cult show. This print is 18 x 15″, printed on canvas and framed. Get it soon because there are only a few left.
J.A.W. Cooper
While checking out all of the work from Gallery 1998′s Paper Pushers show, I couldn’t help but love J.A.W. Cooper‘s music inspired drawings. It’s no secret that Dennis and I love The Decemberists, so naturally the pieces that were inspired by their songs were my favorites.
A visit to her blog revealed a host of preliminary sketches of these pieces as well as a few others that ended up on the cutting room floor.

OUR LATEST GIGPOSTER
We got to design and print a poster for Darling Imperial's farewell show at the Berkley Front. They let us do whatever we wanted, so we went with vintage lettering and a weathered, faded feel.
