Evan B. Harris Tiny Showcase
If you follow @perfectlaughtr on Twitter, you might have seen me freak out upon hearing about the Evan B. Harris Tiny Showcase. To say I was excited is quite an understatement. I even set an alarm on my phone to ring at 7:25pm. I knew it would be one of his recent paintings, and I was hoping that it would be the one we posted about last week, Shark Fin Cameo. It wasn’t, but I wasn’t disappointed to find Seaweed and Piano Keys instead.
I love the tattoos on his hands and the embellishments on his coat. As of this writing, there are still several of these left. Part of all Tiny Showcase sales go to a charity of the artist’s choosing, and Evan chose Oceana, which is focused on ocean conservation.
New Work From Derek Hess
Derek Hess recently released this awesome 9″ x 29″ giclee entitled “True.” What I like best about the piece, aside from the $40 price tag is that Derek used a clipping from the MMPI personality test.

Derek also put up a few new original pieces for sale as well in his online shop.

Limited Edition Audrey Pongracz Print
Audrey Pongracz has made a giclee print of “Gooses Geeses” available for sale through 323 East. The original painting was in the third installment of Gallery 1988‘s esteemed Crazy 4 Cult show. This print is 18 x 15″, printed on canvas and framed. Get it soon because there are only a few left.
Jennifer Kraska
Jennifer Kraska‘s nature themed watercolors and drawings have a flowy, liquid kind of grace to them.

This Saturday, Jennifer will be one of sixteen artists represented at “Women: A Night of Art and Culture” at The Crofoot. In addition to art, there will be a full lineup of music, headlined by the ever awesome Lightning Love. And Secret Twins, which is quite possibly the most adorable band I’ve ever seen in my life, is playing as well. To round out the night there will be comedy acts, a food demo and a fashion show. More details are on The Crofoot’s website.
Glenn Barr’s “Evening” by Pressure Printing
Pressure Printing has reproduced many originals with perfect authenticity, and this Glenn Barr print is likely no exception. “Evening” was one of my favorite pieces hanging up at CPOP before it closed, and I was sad that it wasn’t part of his recent show. I guess the Pressure Printing guys must have needed it for a while!

The really interesting thing about this print is the process. Pressure Printing’s blog talks about how the it’s actually made of two pieces of paper. The painting was printed as a giclee on etching paper, cut out, and then laid inside of a big rectangular depression on 300gsm Arches watercolor paper. Then it was pressed flat with a heated plate to smooth it out.

The details are beautiful: deckled edges, embossed printer’s chop, and hand signing and numbering by the artist. The print is an edition of 50 and costs $395 unframed. It’s available now in Pressure Printing’s shop.
