Dirty Show 11, February 12-20

Unfortunately, Christina and I will be in Wisconsin for a pond hockey tournament and will not be able to go to the opening of this year’s Dirty Show at Bert’s Warehouse Theatre in the Russell Industrial Center. The amount of talent that is participating in the show is pretty insane. Some of my favorite artists including Brian M. Viveros, Handiedan, and Colin Christian have all produced work for the show. Tristan Eaton is also one of four guest curators invited to participate this year. The opening reception is Friday February 12th at 7pm and advanced tickets are priced at $15.

Finally, due to limited internet access we will return to regular posting on Monday.
New prints by Handiedan
Our favorite artist from the Neatherlands, Handiedan, has redesigned her website. And with the new redesign comes new prints! She is has some beautiful giclees for sale, but really grabbed me was the twelve color screenprint, entitled Strong No. 2. Prints can be purchased through her site as well as through Phone Booth Gallery. Also, on December 19th is the opening of Handiedan’s latest show, ‘Translucent Skin’. Artwork will be available both at the gallery as well as online.
More collage goodness after the cut.

Handiedan
While perusing one of my favorite art blogs, OMG Posters, I came across the newest (now sold out) print by the artist Handiedan and fell in love. I found the print interesting and I led me to wonder if she worked strictly in the digital medium, or if she created the collages by hand. Looking at the fine art section of her website, I was blown away. The 28 year old Amsterdam native meticulously combines, vintage pinups, paint, ink, yellowed sheet music, stamps, old playing cards, zinc and other found objects, to create beautiful rich collages. Here is a small sample of her work and much much more, along with her design and illustration portfolio can be found at her site.
Giclees and originals of Handiedan’s work can be found at Phone Booth Gallery. An in depth interview with the artist about her method and process can be found at the COWard33&sNEEze15 blog.

OUR LATEST GIGPOSTER
We got to design and print a poster for Darling Imperial's farewell show at the Berkley Front. They let us do whatever we wanted, so we went with vintage lettering and a weathered, faded feel.
