Two Arms
I came across some wonderfully gritty gig posters that turned out to be the product of Brooklyn’s Two Arms.

Two Arms is the joint effort of Mike Tabie and Karen Goheen. Along with close up photos of inky fingers and mock vintage banner ads, I found this awesome infographic on their website.

I love the idea of explaining each designer’s strengths. If Dennis and I did this, we’d have to come up something else instead of “organized”, or we’d have a gaping hole.

The pair is also participating in The Sketchbook Project. I thought it was a brilliant idea to screenprint the pages of their notebook.

You can see the poster they designed for the Sketchbook Project Tour, as well as lots of other neat stuff on their blog.
9000
The designer that goes by the name of 9000 is Colombian, and that’s about all I can find out about him. (I’m assuming he’s a guy based on some of his work, but I don’t even know that for sure.) His Flickr stream is amazing, and his style is really diverse. His work includes the manipulation of iconic images, tongue-in-cheek infographics, and propaganda inspired directives. The common thread is the intelligence of his messages.
9000 has a website, but it’s in Latin. The best place to see more of his work is on Flickr. I highly recommend taking a look.
This American Infographic
This is THE BEST New Years Resolution I’ve ever heard of.

This American Infographic is a blog that will expand on ideas from each episode of This American Life. For example, the show’s first episode talked about someone who was wrongfully imprisoned for 20 years. The above graphic explores data about exonerated criminals. Brilliant.
Sufjan Stevens’ Illinoise: Visualized by Jax de Leon
For her senior project at Purchase College’s School of Art and Design, Jax de Leon visually deconstructed one of my favorite albums of all time. Her last project as a student was a graphic representation of every note, word, instrument and voice from Come on, Feel the Illinoise! by Sufjan Stevens. I’m kind of crazy over this.
Jax kindly agreed to talk to me about her massive endeavor. The interview and more images of the project are behind the cut. The entire project is available for viewing on her website.
Starred #2

Named after the Add Star feature in Google Reader, “Starred” is a column about things that catch my eye as I peruse the blogs I subscribe to. This week’s has a little bit of a geometry theme going on, it seems.

OUR LATEST GIGPOSTER
We got to design and print a poster for Darling Imperial's farewell show at the Berkley Front. They let us do whatever we wanted, so we went with vintage lettering and a weathered, faded feel.
