The Beehive Project
I will forever associate Tom Waits’ song “What’s He Building In There?” with The Beehive Project. I stumbled across them on Tumblr and was really curious about what they were doing. Then, thankfully, they posted this video:
It turns out that they’re doing exactly what it sounds like: building a beehive. The life size structure will serve as an informal conversation space during this weekend’s Movement festival. It will be filled with comfortable seating structures, a conference table, and a small library of books about Detroit. The best part: it’s meant to serve as a metaphor for the city of Detroit by referencing the hive as a valuable model for community and collaborative, creative production. Watch them build it at The Beehive Project’s Tumblr, or nose around at the Russell Industrial Center.
Earth Day and Beyond – Rivers Edge Gallery
Good friend and River’s Edge Gallery director Jeremy Hansen has put together a four person show consisting of artists that create artwork using found and organic materials. The show, Earth Day and Beyond features Michigan artists Dave Roberts, Tim Burke, Tim Pewe, and David Austin.
On Earth Day, Saturday April 17th, Jeremy will be giving one on one tours to gallery guests explaining the processes and thoughts behind the artwork between 2-4 in the afternoon.

Minor Borborygmi by Brendan Monroe
Here’s something new and a little different from Brendan Monroe. Brendan is offering a plush sculpture made from refuse material from his original Borborgymi sculpture that was constructed for his solo show last year at Richard Heller Gallery. The sculptures are quite sizeable measuring 20″ x 20″ x 15″. The coolest thing about the sculpture is when sqeezed they play an original sound element from the larger Borborgymi. Images of the original and a sound clip can be found by clicking the borgorygmi link at the top of the page here. The scupltures are limited to 28 pieces and are priced at $150.

OUR LATEST GIGPOSTER
We got to design and print a poster for Darling Imperial's farewell show at the Berkley Front. They let us do whatever we wanted, so we went with vintage lettering and a weathered, faded feel.
