While We’re Away
Posting is going to be a little light around here for the next week or so. We’re going to that place that Michiganders affectionately call “Up North” for the weekend, and then buckling down in preparation for the People’s Arts Festival. In the meantime, may we suggest a few things to keep you busy?
- The Silent Giants have a show going on at 323East. We missed the opening and don’t have pics, but their posters will be up through the weekend.
- You can head to Midtown tonight for the Canfield Street Market. 5-9 outside of City Bird.
- After that, hit up the closing reception for That DAM Box Show. 6-9 pm at the Detroit Artists Market.
- Send us a submission! Suggest an artist for us to blog about by emailing us at heyyouguys at perfectlaughter dot com. Please don’t be shy about suggesting yourself, even if you don’t have a fancy website/portfolio. Send us a couple of images, and you could get a little piece of the internet in the form of a Perfect Laughter blog post.
- We’re in the middle of finishing a couple of new prints. We’ve been posting process pics on Twitter, as well as other daily shenanigans. You can follow us at @perfectlaughtr.
- If you’re not into Twitter, we have a Facebook fan page or a like page or whatever it’s called this week. But we try to only post important stuff on there so we’re not spammin’ up people’s Facebooks.
We’ll try to post a few times next week as we are able, and we hope to see you next weekend at the People’s Arts Festival!
Our New Spoon Poster by The Silent Giants
After much admiring from afar, I finally broke down and bought a Silent Giants poster. Spoon is my favorite band in the whole wide world, and the show they put on last night at the Royal Oak Music Theater was awesome as usual. And so is this poster.
This image doesn’t really do justice to all the different textures, but you can see detail shots in their shop. It’s not available for sale yet, but in the mean time, take a look around their fancy brand new website.
More Ridiculousness from The Silent Giants
These guys just keep getting better and better. The Silent Giants have designed a poster and cover art for three singles by Absofacto, which is the solo project of Mason Proper’s frontman.

The poster (last image) is $25 and comes with a download of all of his music. You can get it here.
Silent Giants / Ra Ra Riot Yellow Bird Project Shirt
The Yellow Bird Project sells band t-shirts that benefit a charity of the band’s choosing. The band usually designs the shirt themselves, but the latest shirt was created by The Silent Giants for Ra Ra Riot.
The band chose The John Pike Memorial Project for their charity. The organization aims to make learning music more accessible to the public, and is named after their drummer who sadly passed away. The shirt costs $25 and you can buy it here.
The Silent Giants also did the album artwork for Ra Ra Riot’s album The Rhumb Line, which is seriously one of my favorite things next to puppy dogs and ice cream. It is an amazing record. You can hear one of the songs here on Barsuk’s website.
ABOUT PERFECT LAUGHTER
Perfect Laughter is Dennis and Christina Jacobs of Detroit, Michigan. In addition to blogging about artists that we love, we design, screenprint and letterpress paper goods. If you're looking for a graphic designer or illustrator, commissions are always welcome! (read more...)
OUR LATEST GIGPOSTER
We got to design and print a poster for Darling Imperial's farewell show at the Berkley Front. They let us do whatever we wanted, so we went with vintage lettering and a weathered, faded feel.
