Kathleen Lolley

I stumbled across the Etsy shop of Louisville, KY’s Kathleen Lolly and I want to buy literally everything. I love her characters and that each piece has a story.

Kathleen has a bunch or reasonably priced prints available in her Etsy shop and has originals available through Thinkspace Gallery.

A Cry for Help @ Thinkspace Gallery

Dennis Hayes IV was nice enough to share and comment upon the piece he did for the ‘A Cry For Help’ show at Thinkspace Gallery in Los Angles. Inspired by the doves that visit him outside of his window, “Mourning Love”, refers to the mourning dove’s long lost cousin, the passenger pigeon. The Dove is perched upon a tilted trefoil knot as a symbol of the intertwining of life and also refers to the Christian symbol of the trinity and brings into question the moral implications of our fore fathers ignorance of the mass execution of the passenger pigeon population for game.

A Cry for Help will feature 100 artists and runs January 8th through February 5th. 20 percent of proceeds from the show will be donated to Born Free USA & Animal Protection Institute. Also, limited edition prints by Buff Monster, Amy Sol, and Liz McGrath will be released at the opening. Thinkspace has also posted a preview of much of the work on their flickr.

Imminent Disaster

Imminent Disaster is a Brooklyn street artist that has shown this year at Ad Hoc Art in New York and Thinkspace in LA. She has a formal education in printmaking, and she uses these skills to great effect. I especially love her wheatpasted screenprints and paper cutouts.

In her gallery pieces, she’s combined these methods with block printing, stencils and hand painting to create huge works of art. This piece, The Organist, is 8′ x 8′ and inspired by a historical account of New York’s Great Fire of 1835, in which someone heard organ music playing from a warehouse until it collapsed.

There’s a lot more to see on Imminent Disaster’s Flickr. For something to look forward to, she has an upcoming show with Armsrock at Thinkspace next year.
