This Weekend: Detroit Events

posted by christina

There’s a ton of fun art and design related stuff going on around here this weekend. Wish we could check them out, but we’re ONE WEEK away from our wedding and we still, unbelievably, are not entirely ready. DIY-types should really not be allowed to have weddings…

D3D: On Saturday, the Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit is showing a 3D documentary of Detroit indie music. Chris Dean figured out how to hack his digital camera to be able to shoot things in 3D, and he portrays over 20 Detroit bands in his project. The exhibition is free and the accompanying The Readies and Wildcatting concert is $4. For more info, visit the CAID’s website.

Dally in the Alley: The traditional fall event in the Cass Corridor is taking place this Saturday. The music lineup is here, vendors will be selling their work and overall it’s slated to be “The Greenest Festival in Detroit”. Mark Arminski did the poster you see above. For more info, visit the Dally in the Alley website.
